Education Center Questions

What if someone in my group has special needs?

The Education Center meets all ADA Regulations. Please call ahead at (845) 753-2200 with any special needs so that we may accommodate you.

Are these tours more suitable for grown ups or school children?

The tours are suitable for anyone in 2nd grade to adult.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility Questions

Do I need an appointment to drop off wastes at the HHW Facility?

No, appointments are not necessary. Simply show up at the facility between 8am-1pm with your wastes on one of the scheduled event days.

How should I dispose of my old computer equipment or other electronics?

Electronics are acceptable at the HHW Facility. Click here for a list of other acceptable materials.

Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) Questions

I missed my recycling day, and would like to take my recyclables to the MRF. May I do this?

The Authority does not have a policy in place for people to drop off materials at the MRF at this time. The Dropoff Facility, which was built for this purpose, is not yet in operation. Therefore, the Authority asks that you wait until the next recyclables pickup in your area, and set out your recyclables as normal.

Who do I phone if my recyclables were not picked up, and they were set out correctly?

If your recyclables were not picked up, and you had set them out correctly, please call your Village or Town Hall. If you are in the Village of Spring Valley or Village of Haverstraw, please call the RCSWMA at (845) 753-2200.

How do I get new recycling bins?

If you need new recycling bins, please phone your Town or Village Hall.

How do I obtain a free recycling bin wheel kit?

Senior residents with disabilities are eligible for a free wheel kit. Call you Town or Village Hall to obtain one.

Transfer Station (TS) Questions

What materials are accepted at the Transfer Station, and what is the cost?

This facility accepts municipal solid waste for consolidation and transport to out-of-county solid waste disposal facilities. Click here for the cost of disposal.

What is the procedure for disposing of waste at the Transfer Station?

To dispose of waste at the Transfer Station, please stop first at the Scalehouse. The Scalehouse operators will determine the total weight of your vehicle and waste. They will then direct you where to go to dump your waste. You will then return to the Scalehouse to determine the empty weight of your vehicle, and the total weight of waste dumped. This is the number you will be billed on. Please have a check ready for payment, as cash and credit cards are not accepted.

Cocomposting Facility (Coco) Questions

Can I pick up some of the compost product from the Coco?

No, the compost product is not for sale to residents. This product is sold strictly by contract, and is marketed by Synago.

What kind of wood waste is acceptable at the CoCo?

How much does it cost to dispose of clean wood waste at the CoCo?

The price for disposing of clean wood waste at the CoCo is $25/ton, pro-rated.

What is the procedure for disposing of clean wood waste at the CoCo?

To dispose of clean wood waste at the CoCo, please stop first at the Scalehouse. The Scalehouse operators will determine the total weight of your vehicle and waste.
